Good morning! Sasha states one of those universal truths that we would all be wise to adapt. When I was teaching my Goal Class last year, I was amazed at how many people set their goals to be done daily like:
These goal setters were chasing perfection. But perfection doesn't exist in reality. When we strive for perfection over improvement, we end up frustrated and often abandon our goals all together. Why? Because it isn't attainable.
Why don't more people go stand on a ledge and jump off to see if they can fly? Because they know they can't--it's unattainable. Perfection is equally impossible and insane. One also does just as much damage when they fall as if they were to jump off that cliff--although most of the damage is internal versus external. Chasing perfection is one of the shortest paths to living on a treadmill of incompleteness.
Your Turn:
Where in your life have you been chasing perfection instead of improvement? Take the weight off your shoulders and cast perfection aside. Instead, challenge yourself to daily improvement. Your Affirmation:
Each day I am getting better and better. | ||||||
