Many of us long to find a more centered and balanced self that is consistently optimistic, upbeat and effective. This 5 week class will teach you 5 principles to develop that positive and centered self. Each week you will work with one principle and learn exercises for integrating it into your life.

Starts August 20

Does thinking about paying bills or "finally saving up enough" for a desired purchase fill you with stress and anxiety? Are you tired of looking at the interest charged on your monthly credit card statements?

"Look for the good and praise it"

Good morning!  What wise words that counselor had! One of the methods most often used in couple-therapy is praising the good we see in our spouses. Our tendency can be to dwell on the negative or "nag" about what we do not like. We can fall into the same patterns with friends, children and colleagues. However, this negativity will only strengthen the very actions or behaviors we feel negative about.

The best strategy (and a much more pleasant way to live) is to seek out the positive (even when it is hard to see!) and praise it up and down. Think of it this way -- whatever we give attention to will grow. If we give attention to bothersome behaviors/actions through negativity or nagging, they will grow. If we give attention to the positive, it will grow.

Your Turn:
Today, squelch the negative and feed the positive. Look for something to praise in each person you have contact with. Watch how your attitude and day becomes brighter as well!

Your Affirmation:
I praise the positive.
