Good morning! I truly believe that this seemingly simple quote could very well be a key of Trump's financial success. I don't know a lot about his personal life so I certainly can't speak to his overall life success - but I have sat at the Starbucks in New York City at Trump Tower and do know he must have been thinking big with that building!
It is such a simple guidelines but so true. We are going to thinking all the time - that's what makes us humans and not barnacles. Science has shown that what we think directly correlates to our quality of life. Optimists live longer than pessimists. Optimists have a lower of heart disease. The scientific data is starting to pile up that our thoughts directly correlate to the life we live and its quality.
We spend the majority of our time thinking - sometimes they are random and wandering thoughts, other times it is messages from others we re-live or tell ourselves, sometimes it is talk from an internal critic that seems to know how we can do better at every turn. Every thought if like a building block. Are you building a foundation for today and tomorrow or are you building a brick fortress around yourself that keeps out the light?
Your Turn
If your thoughts are wandering into places that don't inspire and encourage you on a regular basis then you need to make a decision to change and follow through-- that is the single-most important decision and commitment you can make for yourself and everyone around you. It won't necessarily be easy, but it will be worth it. There are several resources I strongly suggest for learning to manage your thoughts effectively. My two favorite books on this topic (both of which I read over a decade ago) Awaken the Power Within by Anthony Robbins and The Feeling Good Handbook. I also have two perpetual classes that give you step-by-step lessons to change your thinking and thus change your life. The 10 Day Attitude Makeover and 5 Principles of Personal Peace.
Your affirmation:
I think only encouraging and empowering thoughts.
